The Painter is responsible for performing skilled painting work in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of healthcare facility buildings, ensuring a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role requires the ability to work independently during evening and weekend hours with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including patching, sanding, and priming walls, ceilings, doors, and trim.
- Apply paint, varnish, stain, and other finishes to various surfaces using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Perform minor drywall repairs, caulking, and other surface preparation as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment; ensure proper signage and containment of work areas to minimize disruption in patient care areas.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to complete painting projects efficiently and with minimal impact on operations.
- Follow infection prevention protocols and comply with hospital safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain inventory of painting supplies and materials and notify supervisor of needed replacements.
- Respond to urgent painting or repair requests as needed during assigned shifts.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and time spent on tasks.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial or institutional painting, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of proper surface preparation, application techniques, and safety protocols.
- Ability to read work orders and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various physical positions.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with flexibility for occasional additional hours as needed.
- Understanding of infection control and safety standards in healthcare settings is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of minor drywall or plaster repairs is a plus.
Working Conditions:
