Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will specialize in the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems. Your expertise will include designing steam distribution, duct sizing and distribution, chiller and boiler systems within healthcare, government, federal, and education facilities. You will play a critical role in ensuring that buildings have safe and efficient plumbing systems that meet local building codes and regulations. This position will have overall responsibilities for the mechanical design of a project and will work closely with our other Engineering and Architecture disciplines on project deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Conceptually develop a high-quality set of construction documents with HVAC equipment, ductwork, and piping systems.
• Assist in the disciplines and subdisciplines of Fire Suppression, Plumbing, Medical Gas, and HVAC.
• Support project managers as part of the design process.
• Work with project managers to assign tasks and coordinate resource needs.
• Attend client meetings and design review meetings.
• Develop construction documents and design details.
• Conduct on-site construction administration and site inspection visits to assess the quality of the work.
• Coordinate within a multi-disciplinary project team.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical education for staff.
• Extensive experience working within a professional services firm.

• 5+ years of HVAC design experience, especially in healthcare, municipal, government, higher education, lab, and other commercial projects.
• Proficiency in Revit.
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree related to design.

• PE or PE eligibility (having an EIT) is a nice-to-have.
• Experience in residential projects is not required.

The office is a modern, renovated space with an open concept that encourages collaboration. It includes cubicles and offices with glass walls and doors. The office is located downtown with ample street parking and access to a parking garage. The dress code is business casual. This is a first-shift position with flexible start and end times between 7-9 AM and 4-6 PM. Employees have the option to work remotely on select days after the first 90 days. The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr.
