The Pipefitter/Welder is a vital hands-on role within the N&C/Healthcare Division, supporting Central Maintenance operations to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of capital and maintenance work. This role is focused on maintaining piping systems, troubleshooting equipment, executing preventive maintenance, and contributing to plant reliability and uptime. The Pipefitter II plays a key part in supporting mechanical integrity, training efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, the role requires adherence to safety and quality standards including environmental, health, and safety protocols. Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and communication skills are essential for success in this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial piping systems and related components.
- Troubleshoot piping-related issues and support equipment reliability improvements.
- Assist in redlining and updating piping schematics and prints for accuracy.
- Execute basic welding tasks for piping system repairs and installations.
- Document all maintenance activities accurately using SAP or equivalent CMMS.
- Train and mentor junior technicians on safe and effective maintenance practices.
- Participate in safety programs, including hazard identification and job safety assessments.
- Support planned shutdowns, turnarounds, and maintenance outages to ensure system readiness.
- Ensure compliance with cGMP, quality standards, and internal maintenance protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment at all times.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school certification is a plus.
- 13 years of experience in industrial pipefitting or mechanical maintenance.
- Basic proficiency in welding techniques and equipment operation.
- Strong understanding of industrial piping systems, including valves and flow control devices.
- Ability to read and interpret piping diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with SAP or other maintenance tracking systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of safety practices, PPE use, and applicable workplace safety standards.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills in industrial settings.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in confined spaces and elevated areas.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to follow instructions precisely.
