Stevens Equipment Supply, a member of Daikin Industries, Inc., is a wholesale distributor of equipment, parts, and supplies to industries including Residential and Light Commercial Heating & Air Conditioning, Hospitality and Refrigeration, is seeking an HVAC Estimator for the Phoenix area. The HVAC Estimator will be responsible for all aspects of HVAC estimation. This includes plan take offs, load calculations, and organize site visits to ensure the proper scope of work is identified. The ideal candidate is well organized, hands-on, has excellent computer and HVAC skills, is self-motivated and dependable with the drive to succeed in a challenging and fast paced environment.

Position responsibilities may include:

  • Collaborate with Motili Contractor Relations to identify HVAC installers who are capable and willing to bid the labor for the project
  • Accurately estimate plan/spec and design/build HVAC systems using computer estimating systems and other related software
  • Maintain estimating logs and unit costs for all projects
  • Perform site surveys and attend pre-bid walkthroughs
  • Interact with the sales and contractor relations and project management teams to ensure all projects are performed under budget and according to plans and specifications
  • Preform Load Calculations
  • Create Manual D duct design
  • Perform equipment specification
  • Participate in additional projects to support ongoing business needs

Nature and Scope:

  • Applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience
  • Manages projects and processes while working independently and with limited supervision
  • Coaches and reviews the work of lower-level professionals
  • Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex; takes a new perspective on existing solutions

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of different types of HVAC systems and their components
  • Single Family new construction and multi-family experience required
  • Background in value engineering
  • Thorough understanding of related trades for the purposes of coordinating various project estimates
  • Boiler and chiller experience
  • Mid-rise commercial experience a plus
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and other construction documents
  • Experience with estimating software and systems preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under limited or sporadic direction and meet deadlines and ability
  • Must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply good judgement and strong work ethics and integrity on the job

Experience:

  • 5 + years of estimating experience in the HVAC industry with a proven track record is required

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • HVAC vocational training/certificate

People Management: No

Physical Requirements / Working Environment:

  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with reasonable accommodations. Travel would be necessary for large site verification purposes up to 30%.
