Position Summary

This is an onsite position in Washington D.C.

National Capitol Contracting (NCC) is seeking an energetic Telecommunications Technician to join our dynamic team of professionals on a full-time basis. In this role, you will performing communications engineering activities, providing technical/operational support, and customer service for a Federal Agency.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Work with network team to provide support for the campus layer 2 data network as it relates to campus Avaya VoIP system and LAN connectivity for users work area outlets (WAO).
  • Responsible for the installation, testing, and terminations of telecommunications CAT 5E/6 cabling to support voice, video and data systems.
  • Perform adds, moves and changes for daily support and installations.
  • Utilize a variety of test equipment to isolate, identify and analyze equipment and take appropriate action to troubleshoot and resolve any problems.
  • Receive, complete, and document user-initiated work orders received through eBusiness, and ticket incidents received through ServiceNow.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (must be able to pass a criminal background and credit check)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-3 years of equivalent work experience.

  • Experience with all of the following:

  • Microsoft Office

  • Microsoft Teams

  • Ethernet MHz testing equipment for layer 1 testing

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information in English, both written and verbal.

  • Some knowledge/experience with using power tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in related technical IT field

Special Position Requirements

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 hour shifts between the time of 7AM-4PM, with flexibility to meet customer's needs.

Environmental/Physical Demands: Standing for periods of time, walking throughout campus to each conference room/event space, Ability to lift 40 lbs, and work with hands.
