Role Overview:
As a Plumbing and Piping Estimator, you'll be responsible for producing accurate and timely project estimates, collaborating with vendors, subcontractors, and field staff, and identifying valuable bidding opportunities. Your work will play a critical role in supporting our project planning and contributing to the overall success and growth of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, pursue, and evaluate bid opportunities to meet company goals.
- Prepare and manage accurate project cost estimates and submit bids in line with deadlines.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all bids and follow up to gather insights on outcomes.
- Work closely with clients and internal teams to understand project scopes and expectations.
- Participate in pre-job briefings and coordinate with project leaders to align on project budgets and schedules.
- Support project execution by providing materials quotes and change order management.
- Uphold documentation standards for project records, contracts, and change orders.
- Represent the company in client and site meetings related to project scope and updates.
What You Bring:
- Experience: Minimum 7 years in commercial/industrial mechanical systems with hands-on installation experience. At least 1 year of estimation experience preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; a Bachelor's Degree is a plus.
- Licenses: Journeyman plumbing license or certification required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with QuickPen is a plus. Ability to quickly adapt to new software.
- Competencies:
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Deep understanding of construction processes, economics, and scheduling.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant safety laws and industry codes.
- Ability to analyze blueprints and prepare clear project plans.
Physical and Work Environment:
- Office-based role with frequent site visits.
- Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with potential for extended hours as needed.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, mechanical environments, and construction sites; safety procedures and PPE provided.
