There's never been a better time to explore a future with the City of Dover. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Public Works Department as Motor Equipment Operator I. The primary duties of this position are to maintain, repair, replace, clean: culverts, swales, catch basins, manholes, inlet grates, etc. Address ponded water issues, leaf collection, snow and ice control, vehicle/equipment maintenance, etc. This position will work under a varying degree of supervision. Normal duty hours are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Overtime is required as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Replace, repair, clean and maintenance of stormwater infrastructure
- Build, replace, maintenance, install catch basins
- Lays blacktop and pour concrete as directed
- Sweeper debris collection and disposal
- Snow and ice control; emergency weather event attendance required, brine application
- Operates equipment to transport materials, tools, equipment, or personnel to job sites, load or haul dirt, or pick up debris from job sites
- Assists with traffic control and provides information to the public if required
Required Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED
- Requires six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or the ability to obtain a CDL permit within two (2) months and CDL license with tanker endorsement within six (6) months is required
- Department of Transportation (DOT) pre-employment physical and drug and alcohol test
