SA Recycling, a world leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is actively looking for a dependable and safety minded individual to join our team as a Maintenance Mechanic Trainee. In this role you will be learning all aspects of the trade under the guidance of an experienced Maintenance Mechanic. Our Maintenance Mechanics perform basic to intermediate repair/troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs for both equipment and facility hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems; and will also perform welding, machining, and metal fabrication.
This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Responsibilities of a Maintenance Mechanic
- Assist with preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems for production and office facilities.
- Complete routine inspections for misalignment, wear, and defect and perform preventative maintenance tasks with limited interruptions to production.
- Interact with yard General Managers and employees to schedule routine or emergency maintenance or repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed.
- Keep all buildings and grounds clean and neat in appearance.
- Track, organize, and maintain spare parts inventory and area.
- Must be available for after-hours and weekend callouts for emergencies as needed.
- Performs all tasks fully within SA Recycling's Safety and Environmental practices and procedures.
Qualifications of a Maintenance Mechanic:
- Vocational/Technical Maintenance Mechanic degree preferred.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical repairs, welding, and industrial drive components is highly desired.
- Experience working in a scrap metal recycling yard or medium to heavy industrial environment preferred.
- Willingness to work in varied weather conditions.
- Experience in operating industrial equipment such as a forklift, skid steer, and hoists preferred.
- Must be willing to complete, and successfully pass a drug screen, physical and background check.
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
