The Electrician will perform Journeyman level duties related to electrical components and systems such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.Essential Job Functions:Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specificationsLocates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipmentSolves standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situationRepair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring or devicesDetermine the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints and mapsMaintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and also through reporting violations of policies, procedures and guidelines to immediate supervisorUse ladders, scaffolding, platform and lifts to work on electrical systems on roadside poles and in commercial propertiesAnswer emergency calls quickly, assess the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene and provide directions to individuals affected by the electrical emergency to ensure their continued safety and comfortMaintain equipment to ensure it is in good condition and can operate or be used safely; report any issues to immediate supervisorOther duties as assigned. Required Skills, Experience, and Education:Minimum of 3 years of experience in progressive, hands-on experience in a commercial or industrial settingJourneyman Electrician license from union or state/county, preferred but not requiredProficiency with National Electrical Codes (NEC) and local and state codesHigh School Diploma or equivalentExperience reading blueprints and schematicsExceptional verbal and written communicationStrong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasksAbility to multi-taskAbility to effectively present information and respond to questionsProficiency in using Microsoft and email applicationsAbility to work independently or in a team environmentAbility to effectively utilize available resources to maximize productivityAbility to read schematics and mechanical blueprintsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
