Lyon Shipyard is currently seeking a full- time Painter First Class with at least 5 years of hands-on trade experience in industrial or marine painting. Job Responsibilities:

• Perform surface preparation using sanding, blasting, and cleaning methods
• Apply primers, coatings, and marine-grade paint using spray, brush, and roller methods
• Read and interpret job specifications and blueprints
• Maintain safety protocols and proper use of PPE in all environments, including confined spaces and heights
• Conduct inspections and touch-ups to ensure quality standards
• Work independently or as part of a team to meet deadlines

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a marine or industrial painter
• Skilled in airless and conventional spray applications
• Knowledge of SSPC, MIL-STD, or NACE coating standards is preferred
• Must pass a respirator fit test and physical
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Travel

• Travel is primarily local during the business day, although periodic out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
• Must have specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to performs heavy repair work that could involve climbing, rigging, stooping, bending in confined spaces and exposure to high pressure steam and other fluids.
• Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions (hot and cold).
• Must be able to work requires long hours and weekend work and nights as needed.

Bonus: We are also accepting 2nd Class painter applicants with at least 4 years of trade experience.
