Job Title: Plant Electrical Engineer
Job Description
The Plant Electrical Engineer will oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems to ensure safety and efficiency. This role involves troubleshooting issues, testing existing equipment, and determining if components need upgrades or replacements. Duties include inspecting switches, motors, panel boards, and other industrial electrical system parts, examining root causes for system failures, and deciding on temporary or permanent equipment repairs. Extensive knowledge of electrical components and codes is essential.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot issues to determine root causes and make decisions on temporary or permanent solutions.
- Assist with projects involving expansions and improvements, including writing project approvals, merit calculations, equipment specifications, and overseeing installation, start-up, and debugging of equipment.
- Manage plant utilities, monitor usage, and implement methods to reduce costs.
- Consult with utility experts to determine appropriate replacement and preventative maintenance.
- Research and recommend cost-saving programs available through utility providers and other sources.
- Design and specify new equipment and modifications for existing equipment.
- Specify spare parts for new and existing equipment to minimize the amount of stock needed on hand.
- Observe safety procedures and comply with electrical codes.
- Install, maintain, and enhance electrical systems and components, including fuses, lighting, and wiring.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
- 2+ years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment responsible for plant engineering
- Ability to understand and make decisions based on technical documents, such as blueprints or schematics
- Experience working with maintenance/trades work and/or supervising outside trades contractors
- Practical knowledge of NEC, state, and local electrical codes and regulations
- Experience with supervising the installation of new equipment
Work Environment
This position is in an industrial/manufacturing environment where adherence to safety procedures and compliance with electrical codes are critical. The role requires a practical understanding of technical documents and may involve supervising outside trades contractors.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
