PREP Clear attic of debris and old insulation if necessary. It's currently rock insulation and unless there are critter poops, I don't think the old insulation needs to be removed Look for signs of pests (droppings, nests, chewed wires). Repair any leaks or wood damage before proceeding. 2. SEAL ENTRY POINTS Plug small gaps (around pipes/wires) with steel wool + spray foam. Use caulk on small cracks in wood framing or drywall. Cover vents or holes with hardware cloth, securely stapled or screwed in place. Install baffles to keep ventilation clear at the eaves. 3. INSTALL INSULATION Fiberglass batts With Borate treated fiberglass. Owner to provide this material Measure space between joists and cut batts to fit snugly. Lay batts perpendicular over joists for a second layer (if adding more R-value). Staple faced insulation with the vapor barrier facing the living space. 4. FINAL TOUCHES Double-check all vents are clear (no blocked soffits). Use pest deterrents like peppermint spray in corners. Clean up loose materials and seal attic hatch with weatherstripping.
