The Construction Manager positions main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Gathering construction project workload info from Project Managers / Construction Managers in CDA
  • Coordinate construction project timelines and staffing with the Spokane office
  • Management of a construction project tracking sheet
  • Running monthly construction staffing meetings for PMs and PEs
  • Coordinate project observer assignments
  • Certifications tracking and training opportunity communication
  • Coordination for PPE and equipment needs
  • Organization of Year End and Season Kickoff meetings for Construction Observer staff
  • Reports to/coordinates with the Area Manager
    • Projected workload and potential staffing needs
    • End of season observer workload tracking
  • Provide safety onboarding for new staff
  • Member of the corporate-wide Construction Management Services Team and active participant in the team initiatives.
  • Participating in J-U-B regional construction coordination

Other responsibilities may require the following based on team and project needs:

  • All the duties of a field Construction Observer for all phases of contractor work, procedures, and progress to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and standards; depending on experience staff observes construction of municipal projects, federally funded projects through various state agencies, developments on behalf of public agencies, airport projects, utility piping and water reclamation facilities, roadways, earthwork and more.
  • Coordinates and monitors testing laboratory tests on a variety of materials; monitors quality control by reviewing testing reports of all construction phases.
  • Compute, review, and verify pay quantities, computations, and materials.
  • Prepares/reviews project diaries, testing data, reports, and summaries; prepares drafts for project correspondence.
  • Coordinates project activities with utility companies, cities, counties, state agencies, property owners and contractors.
  • May support the administration of project specific policies and procedures and compliance with OSHA, EEO, and labor compliance requirements.

Construction Observation duties may serve clients in northern Idaho and eastern Washington, primarily in northcentral to northeast Washington. Daily travel to project sites with potential short term to long term overnight stays may be required for some projects. If remote projects require support, we endeavor to allow staff to return home for weekends depending on the contractors schedules. A company vehicle is assigned for travel and business use.
