HVAC Technician – Facilities Department

2025-2026 School Year

Position Summary: Responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining all HVAC related equipment in school buildings and grounds within the District.

Education and Experience: An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

• Requires 2 to 4 years of job-related prior experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Post high school vocational training in electrical procedures/HVAC preferred.
• Requires EPA certification.
• Requires completion of Asbestos Awareness Program.

Essential Job Functions include the following: Other Duties May Be Assigned

• Assists in the fire code and Life Safety inspections performing necessary upgrades to facilities.
• Maintains all safety and code requirements of the State, local and Board of Education guidelines.
• Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains HVAC equipment throughout the district (chillers, RTUs, VRVs, cooling towers, fan coil units, VAV boxes, pumps, air handlers, ventilators, cooling coils, cabinet heaters, some boilers, and other mechanical heating and ventilating equipment.
• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on HVAC and related equipment (cleaning coils, replacing worn belts, lubrication, filters, etc.)
• Installs and tests new equipment (light commercial and mini-splits).
• Accurately orders and accounts for Inventory of parts and supplies.
• Monitors and operates building automation systems (Automated Logic, Johnson Controls).
• Coordinates with school administrators on large and lengthy repair projects.
• Serves as substitute custodian as needed.

COMPENSATION FOR EXPERIENCE IS CONSIDERED , 2025-2026 Classified Salary Schedule
