Transportation Engineer 12 (Agreements and Licenses Engineer) - Bureau of Development

This position serves as the recognized resource for preparing and evaluating agreements and licenses related to Macro Cell Tower and Communications installations in the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Right-of-Way. This position reviews contract language and issue resolutions of project specific cost sharing agreement agenda descriptions, for the State Administrative Board, State Transportation Commission, and the MDOT Director's agendas. This position tracks licenses for permitted activities in the highway right of way by mapping locations, notifying licensee and MDOT permit staff of upcoming license expiration, and updating records with renewals. This position is responsible for preparing draft agreements for Permit Operation & Maintenance between MDOT and federal, state, and local agencies and with private entities to ensure compliance with MDOT guidelines, federal, and state laws for both Trunkline and Governmental Local agreements.

Education

Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.

Experience
Three years of professional engineering experience involved in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11. Transportation Engineer 9 - 12
Possession of a registered professional engineer license as required by the State of Michigan may be substituted for 6 months of experience at the Transportation Engineer 9-12 levels. This substitution may only be used once for any employee for qualification of appointment or early reclassification.
