Ferrous Processing and Trading, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., has an immediate opportunity for a Welder at our Pontiac operation. The Welder is responsible for repairs, fabricating, and assembling custom-designed equipment.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Weld metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes.
- Read blueprints and drawings.
- Take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
- Proficiency with basic machine tools.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety while working in full compliance with approved safety regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 3-5 years of welding experience.
- Strong math skills and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings, pneumatic and electric engineering drawings are a plus.
- Must be able to pass a hands-on welding test.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs.
- Pre-Employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required.
