We Require

  • Two years of professional experience in contract administration, grant-funded program management, or oversight of strategic projects

  • Bachelors degree in business administration, public administration, public health, project management, or a closely related field

  • A combination of post-secondary education and directly related work experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

  • Within one month of hire, employees must provide documented evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable diseases, including MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (pertussis and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza. Certain positions may also require Hepatitis B vaccination and/or Tuberculosis testing, as applicable per Maricopa County Department of Public Health policy.

We Also Value

  • Masters degree in business administration, public administration, public health, or a closely related field

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent

  • Two or more years of supervisory experience

  • Three or more years of experience administering a variety of grants (e.g., federal, state, local, or private)

  • Proficiency in one or more of the following systems: Board of Supervisors Agenda Management System (Solar II/Hyland), Advantage Financial System, OnBase, Webgrants

  • Experience with federal grant reporting and submission platforms, including grants.gov, SAM.gov, FSRS.gov, NACCHO, HRSA EHB, ELCCamp, GrantSolutions, and FEMA GO

Job Contributions

  • Supervise day-to-day activities of assigned staff, including workload distribution, performance management, training, and participation in recruitment and hiring processes

  • Lead the development and implementation of procedures for full-cycle grant managementincluding identification of funding opportunities, proposal submission, contract execution, and post-award compliance

  • Oversee contract and grant deliverables by facilitating planning sessions, providing technical guidance, tracking progress, and coordinating internal and external stakeholder communication to support strategic public health goals

  • Ensure contract and grant activities are compliant with federal, state, and county regulations, including timely and accurate submission of required reports and deliverables

  • Foster collaboration across public health programs to align resources and maximize community health outcomes

  • Facilitate regular communication with grant program leads and administrative staff through routine meetings and reporting

  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Grant Unit Manager regarding program progress, staff performance, compliance status, and operational issues

  • Participate in leadership meetings and represent the unit in discussions with executive-level stakeholders

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental goals and public health priorities

Working Conditions

  • This position primarily works in an office setting with a telework option

  • May be subject to working non-standard hours or days based on need

  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions related to death and disease

  • Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency
