Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our Civil/Site Land Development team in Phoenix, AZ. As an Assistant Project Manager on our Civil/Site Land Development team, you’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality projects from concept through completion. Working closely with the Project Manager, you’ll help oversee both the technical and administrative aspects of project execution—ensuring that timelines, budgets, and client expectations are met. Your responsibilities will include assisting with project coordination, budgeting, scheduling, proposal preparation, and client communication, as well as guiding junior staff and contributing to the successful design and delivery of civil engineering solutions. You’ll also work directly in AutoCAD and collaborate with team members and leadership to keep projects on track and aligned with performance goals. This position is based in Phoenix, Arizona, with the option of office-based work in the Central Valley (E. Camelback Rd. & N 24th St.) or the West Valley (I-10 & 101).

Responsibilities- Assist in preparing effective work plans and man-hour budgets for approval by the supervisor.
- Monitor time schedules and project capital cost budgets to satisfy the client.
- Oversee the work and productivity on assigned projects.
- Strive to achieve predetermined goals for profit, productivity targets, and schedule of deliverables.
- Participate in or hold team meetings to ensure procedures governing the review and approval of projects are followed prior to submitting completed work.
- Negotiate with clients on any scope changes relative to project budgets and schedules, subject to the supervisor's approval.
- Ensure all project work is performed and completed in accordance with QA/QC standards, systems, and procedures as designated for the project.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with all employees involved in the project to ensure high utilization rates (e.g., Project team meetings).
- Review monthly man-hour and cost reports to ensure projects are being completed at the pre-established goal.
- Assist with mentoring junior staff to learn sound technical and business practices and enhance corporate objectives.
- Assist with the preparation for public hearings, meetings, and any other presentations related to his/her projects.
- Assist with submittals to various reviewing agencies and coordinate addressing comments with the design team.
- Works efficiently with the Billing Department to authorize and transmit bills to the client. Follows up with clients for timely payments.
- Adhere to the Health and Safety program and all applicable SOPs.
- May oversee the activities of assigned staff, including but not limited to timesheet review and approval, performance evaluation, and daily supervision.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- 8+ years in related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) Certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Knowledge of local city, county, and state land use processes and regulations.
- Proficiency in technical skills in stormwater management, NPDES permitting, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading, and other site development-related designs.
- Demonstrated Civil 3D skills with the ability to design site layouts concept through completion.
- Ability to interact well with coworkers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities.
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
