Plains is seeking two Mechanical Technicians (millwrights) for our Plains Fort Saskatchewan (PFS) facility outside of Edmonton, Alberta. Reporting to the Team Lead, Mechanical Maintenance, you will be responsible for the efficiency, reliability and proactive care of assets. Focused on rotating equipment primarily, the successful candidates will also complete preventive maintenance, troubleshoot faults, complete repairs, and lead major equipment replacements and installations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, practices, and standards.
  • Collaborate with teammates, partner crafts, process operations, engineers, coordinators, site leadership and contractors.
  • Oversee development and improvement of condition monitoring maintenance programs for rotating equipment (PDM technologies including vibration concepts and applications, lubricant collection/analysis, thermography, ultrasonic).
  • Demonstrate adequate preparation, efficient time management, hazard identification/mitigation, equipment care, tool care, and good housekeeping habits while executing tasks.
  • Develop, review, and maintain all required maintenance procedures for safe and repeatable execution.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and specifications (isometrics, P&IDs, joint integrity standards).
  • Liaise with engineering and operations and participate in continuous improvement of work processes and work execution to influence quality outcomes.
  • Repair and install new equipment.
  • Support large projects and turnaround scopes as required.
  • Operate heavy equipment (e.g., forklift, man-lift, picker truck) as required.
  • Provide support during non-standard business hours as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Certified Interprovincial JourneypersonIndustrial Mechanic (Millwright).
  • Minimum 5 years ticketed experience required
  • Experience with pumps and pumping systems (centrifugal/PD) in a hydrocarbon processing facility preferred
  • Category I vibration and lubrication certification considered assets
  • In-depth knowledge of rotating equipment (multi-stage pumps, gearboxes, fans, motors, compressors) required
  • Competent with mechanical seal troubleshooting/replacement
  • Advanced proficiency with shaft alignment systems, measuring tools, vibration systems, lube analysis systems, shop tools
  • Self-starter, highly motivated and willing to share knowledge and skills with peers
  • Ability and desire to work as part of a team
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams) and ability to complete computer-based training.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills as well as ability to work alone and with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of lifting heavy components up to 50lbs, climb ladders and work in tight spaces
  • Permanent residency within 120 km of the PFS facility.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean abstract.
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
  • Compliance with the Companys requirement to be clean shaven to ensure proper fit of emergency PPE.
  • Compliance with the Companys drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing. #Plains
