Land Survey – Senior Land Surveyor

Our growth offers an exciting opportunity for a Senior Land Surveyor to join our growing Survey Department. This role offers the opportunity to lead survey projects, oversee field and office operations, and provide expertise in boundary determinations, legal descriptions, and survey documentation.

A successful candidate will have 10+ years of land surveying experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with team members, clients, and regulatory agencies.

This role is based in our Meriden office and provides the opportunity to grow and lead a team from a technical perspective or as a Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and manage survey activities to determine precise locations, measurements, and boundary lines for construction, mapping, and land division projects.

  • Conduct record research by analyzing previous survey evidence, deeds, maps, and land records to gather essential project data.

  • Supervise field crews, ensuring accurate data collection, detailed record-keeping, and adherence to project scope and timelines.

  • Review and validate fieldwork, including traverse notes, computations, and construction layout records, ensuring accuracy and clarity.

  • Prepare and sign boundary line determinations, legal descriptions, and survey maps in accordance with Connecticut state standards and company policies.

  • Utilize advanced survey technologies and software, including Civil 3D, Infinity, Captivate, and AutoCAD, to produce precise survey deliverables.

  • Manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring efficient use of resources and high levels of client satisfaction.

  • Mentor junior staff, promoting their professional development and technical proficiency.

  • Ensure full compliance with safety protocols in all field operations to maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • 10+ years of surveying experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Candidates with the ability to obtain a Connecticut license through reciprocity or who are eligible to sit for the exam will be considered.

  • Project Management

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in survey software, including Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and coordinate geometry programs.

  • Strong foundation in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform duties in varying outdoor conditions, including challenging terrain and extreme weather.
