Painter Lead - Fabrication - Component (Night Shift)

Summary

The Night Shift Component Paint Lead is a direct production worker who provides day-to-day leadership to a 5-10 person team made up of Sand Blasters, Industrial Painters, and Helpers under the direction of a Day Shift Supervisor. The Component Paint Lead is accountable for their team completing work orders before the required dates and within the designated duration. The lead is responsible for assigning Work Orders to Sand Blasters and Industrial Painters in an effective and efficient manner to maximize flow and throughput. In addition, the Component Paint Lead is also responsible to ensure work is prioritized according to committed dates. The Lead will monitor all work to ensure workers are performing activities according to project requirements, safely, and the highest quality. The position is required to communicate professionally and in a timely manner with their supervisor, manager, HSE, Facilities, etc. Duties will be consistent with EFX company Vision, Mission, Values, and adherence to policies and procedures.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prioritize work as directed by the Component Paint Supervisor. Coordinating with day shift to continue work and setup the next shift for success.
  • Monitor daily WIP file and Component Paint Log tool, keeping comments updated to ensure all deliverables are executed per the schedule and priority.
  • Ability to read and understand paint specifications, and other technical documents such as paint mixing procedures.
  • Mentoring and training of helper, painters, blasters.
  • Ensuring all painters and blasters have all the necessary tools and materials to complete their tasks.
  • Selects paint according to company color scheme and specifications.
  • Confirming work orders in a timely fashion.
  • Ensuring your immediate work areas are kept clean and organized, that all tools are returned, and all hoses are wrapped up at the end of shift.
  • Documenting usage and communicating shortages in consumables to the supervisor and coordinator as required to maintain accurate inventories.
  • Document blast profiles for each batch and verify mil thicknesses on completed orders.
  • Maintain and update Paint Log tool, coating reports, and project technical documents.
  • Completing all documentation related to work completed on night shift, saving and organizing as directed to support the project needs and other departments.
  • Support and assist painters and helpers as needed to complete tasks.
  • Leading daily shift kick off meetings.
  • Documenting employee call-ins for vacation, sick time, late-ins, early-outs, etc.; and communicating with Kronos Admin and Supervisor.
  • Performing safety responsibilities in your area
  • Maintaining and leading the 6S program in your area.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED or 1 year technical/vocational training is required.
  • Must be able to identify surface preparation and coating systems to be applied.
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of the Paint Department such as surface preparations, proper paint mixing ratio, DFT and WFT.
  • Experience and understanding of paint mixing process to avoid runs, missed spots, sags, or drips.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant industrial painting experience required.
  • NACE Certification is preferred.
  • Able to achieve results and lead a team with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated independence and values-based decision making.
  • Able to lead and direct the work of others.
  • Exceptional attendance and safety record.
  • Be able to work well with others, motivate employees, provide direction, and positively lead a team.
  • Ability to read and understand Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) is preferred.
  • Willingness to work evening or night shift is required
Physical Requirements

Industrial environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
