Position Overview Electra.aero, a next-gen aerospace technology company, seeks a dynamic and energetic Senior Structures Design Engineer. This role will support the design of Electa's 9-passenger Hybrid Electric eSTOL (electric short takeoff and landing) Aircraft. The ideal candidate will have a strong background designing metallic and composite structure to meet certification requirements within a fast-paced, innovative environment. We are seeking a candidate with the following key experience and skills: Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: + Own the development of primary and secondary parts and assemblies (metallic and composite) from preliminary design to detailed drawing release to manufacturing. + Develop program design best practice to meet certification and aircraft requirements. + Collaborate with suppliers and engineers across the team to mature the design of the aircraft and the integrated systems from prototype to high-rate production. + Interface with structural analysis, aircraft systems, testing/certification, and manufacturing teams to meet all design commitments while promoting a collaborative environment. + Support design reviews and presentations on various structures of the aircraft + Apply design for manufacturing concepts to create solutions that are cost effective and easy to manufacture at rate. + Assist in the development and implementation of PLM tools. Required Education and Experience: + Minimum of 6 years of experience in Aerospace design engineering with bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering Required Skills: + Experience of structural design for certification to part 23 or 25 standards + Strong skills in Siemens NX CAD Software and Teamcenter PLM Software + Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office suites + Strong working knowledge of aircraft structures design of machined and sheet metal primary and secondary structures. + Strong working knowledge of GD&T + Knowledge of composite part design + Systems integration and supplier management + Excellent organization and communication skills. + Other duties as assigned. Desired Qualifications: + Competency in engineering analysis, including structural, thermal, and electrical + Experience integrating electrical and mechanical subsystems + Experience designing mechanical parts (CAD). Understanding of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, injection molding, composite lamination, etc) + US Person (Citizen or Green Card) Preferred Location: + Headquarters in Manassas, VA. To encourage close collaboration this position is 5 days in the office, with some virtual work allowed Salary: Electra's salary range for this position is: $130,000.00 - $170,000.00 Our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum range for the Company level overall across all locations & projects and does not necessarily reflect the budgeted amount for this position. Individual pay is based on additional factors, including project budgets, job-related skills, experience, relevant education and/or training, role, level, location, and project. Working Conditions Work is typically performed in a warehouse/aviation and office environment, which requires proper safety precautions. Work may require some physical effort in handling light materials, boxes, power tools, prototypes, and different materials or equipment. Due to the nature of our business and projects, some fieldwork may be required, working in both indoor and outdoor conditions. You may need to lift up to 50 lbs.
