Building Inspector II - Job Description

Building Inspector II:
- A High School diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years experience in building inspection or construction related field.
- Two (2) years experience in public sector building inspection.
- Requires current certification as a Residential Combination Inspector and a minimum of two of the following commercial certifications: Building, Electrical, mechanical, or Plumbing, by a nationally recognized organization.
- Certifications must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
- Must possess a valid Class D Arizona driver license upon the first day of employment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Public sector building inspector or civil inspection experience is preferred.
- A High School diploma or GED.
- Five (5) years experience in building inspection or construction related field.
- Four (4) years experience in public sector building inspection.
- Requires current certification as a Residential Combination Inspector and a Commercial Combination Inspector OR possess a Residential Combination Inspector and possess a minimum of three of the following commercial certifications: Building, Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing, and obtain a fourth commercial certification, in order to obtain a Commercial Combination certificate within one year by a nationally recognized organization such as ICC or equivalent.
- Certifications must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
- Must possess a valid Class D Arizona driver license upon the first day of employment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Must demonstrate position aptitude by completing a 60-day field training program prior to appointment.
- Public sector building inspector or civil inspection experience is preferred.
- Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment.
- May be necessary to walk up multiple story stairs for inspections.
- Regular, daily attendance is an essential function for this position.
- Rotating team member on-call/call-out to respond to commercial and residential structures damaged due to fire, lightning, vehicle impact and/or other emergencies within the Towns jurisdiction after business hours and on some weekends and Holidays.
