Position Overview: The Apprentice Electrician, under the direction of the Master Electrician, is responsible for the installation, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing of Industrial electrical equipment and systems. This position will be responsible for following the directions of the Journeyman Electrician to complete electrical maintenance and repair work.

Job Duties:

• The Apprentice Electrician will support the Electrician by performing basic tasks, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of electrical projects.
• Complete maintenance work orders on electrical equipment. Testing malfunctioning equipment, identifying defects, troubleshooting, repairing equipment and replacing defective parts.
• Collaborate with other electrical staff to identify and resolve problems.
• Ensures optimal performance of personal equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
• Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
• Maintains up-to-date job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.

Skills/Qualifications:

• MSHA Certification is preferred.
• 2-4 years of electrical apprenticeship preferred.
• Demonstrate knowledge of electrical codes.
• Possessing the ability to understand schematics and technical manuals.
• Must be dependable and have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Must be willing to submit to pre-employment screening, including criminal background check and drug screen.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Essential Requirements:

• Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures, outside majority of the time.
• Work is performed on limited or restricted surfaces.
• Ability to work and maneuver in tight spaces, such as a confined space.
• Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors
• Exposure to areas with limited visibility.
• Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to both get in and out of trenches and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights).
• Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time for required tasks.
• If driving is required, a valid driver's license and proof of insurability are required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.
• Use of respirator if position requires.
• Potential or Periodic amounts of time for the following:
• Walking on uneven terrain, with an average of two miles per day
• Standing
• Sit, stoop, crawl, and kneel.
