Sheet Metal Technician Job Description As a Sheet Metal Technician, you will play a crucial role in fabricating and assembling parts that meet aerospace quality standards. You will be responsible for operating various CNC machinery, interpreting technical documents, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve manufacturability. Responsibilities Operate CNC Laser/Punch, Waterjet, CNC Press Brake, Time Savers, and other fabrication equipment. Program and nest parts for Punch/Laser operations; procure and load materials. Set up and program CNC Press Brake machines, including bend parameters. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders. Innovate and problem-solve to produce complex sheet metal assemblies. Ensure all parts are clean, deburred, and meet customer specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work environment and material area. Collaborate with engineering to suggest design improvements for manufacturability. Use precision measuring tools to verify part accuracy. Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines such as filter changes and coolant checks. Follow all safety protocols and procedures. Essential Skills Sheet metal fabrication expertise. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Experience with CNC Punch, Laser cutting, and press brake operation. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Proficiency in shop math and understanding of sheet metal k-factors. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma. 4+ years of experience with CNC Punch, Punch/Laser, or Laser cutting in aerospace manufacturing.
