Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating a Finish Dozer using GPS technology to achieve the final grade on large earthmoving projects, all within a commercial setting. The role requires proficiency in navigating both rocky and standard earth terrain. You will typically work from 6 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday, with potential Saturday shifts depending on workload and weather conditions. Some days may extend to 14 hours. Job Site Locations: Nebraska New Mexico Louisiana Nevada Texas Responsibilities Operate a Finish Dozer utilizing GPS systems like Trimble or Topcon to achieve precise land grading. Work on mass grading sites with volumes ranging from 200,000 to 20 million yards of dirt. Read and interpret blueprints for accurate execution of tasks. Maintain a high level of safety and adhere to OSHA standards. Exhibit professional behavior and appearance in accordance with the site's Code of Conduct. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years of experience operating a Dozer in a Finish capacity using Trimble GPS. Skilled in heavy equipment operation in commercial construction, grading, and earthmoving. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints. Experience with various Dozer models such as D3, D4, D5, D6, D8, D9, and D10. Additional Skills & Qualifications Valid Driver's License preferred but not mandatory. Ability to be insured to operate company vehicles is advantageous. Why Work Here? We offer a competitive per diem rate of $830 per week and 54 cents per mile for travel from Omaha, NE to more permanent locations. Work Environment You will be working on a civil construction site, characterized by open spaces that were formerly farmland. A high degree of safety protocols must be followed per OSHA standards. The environment is dynamic with significant activity, necessitating strong communication skills and awareness of surroundings. Professional appearance and behavior are expected, in line with the Site Code of Conduct. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, Nebraska. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
