Position Number: 009478 Department: Facilities Management (Adm) Employment Type: Permanent - Full-time Months Per Year: 12 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The FM Tech Mechanical Trades performs under the direction of the Facilities Management HVAC Shop Supervisor. Duties include: Responsible for performing routine maintenance of HVAC equipment to ensure that equipment continues to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate. Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them by checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary. Use standard HVAC tools. This includes precision measuring instruments, electrical devices, and electronic testing devices. Using knowledge and skill with Building Automation Systems (BAS) to complete tasks as needed. Look up and order parts. Minimum Experience / Education: Required Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. University Preferred Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Education Skills and Experience: Associate's degree preferred in a mechanical trades or HVAC field. Four years of professional HVAC experience. Basic electrical and plumbing knowledge. Ability to use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits Experience in diagnosing mechanical problems and determine how to correct them using blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary. Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication. Computer knowledge of programs such as Building Automation Systems (BAS) Ability to use standard HVAC tools. This includes precision measuring instruments, electrical devices, and electronic testing devices. Ability to look up and order replacement parts using available information Computer literacy required. Knowledge and skill with Google Systems, and willingness to learn new programs. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork. HVAC controls for Building Automation Systems experience.
