GOOSE CREEK CISD JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: General MaintenanceCarpenter FLSA: Nonexempt
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Construction Supervisor PAY GRADE: MTD days
LOCATION: Maintenance REVISED: October
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Perform general carpentry, maintenance and PM work orders as determined by Construction
Supervisor or his designee. Must be willing to work evening shift.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION CERTIFICATION
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Vocational school preferred but not required
Valid Texas Driver's License and be insurable
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGESKILLS
Knowledge state and local building codes
Ability to perform wood and metal framing, install suspended ceiling and other building
construction tasks
Five years experience in commercial building construction andor building maintenance
Willingness to work flexible hours when needed
EXPERIENCE
Five years experience in commercial building construction andor building maintenance
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
. Must come to work on assigned workdays and assigned schedules.
. Ability to estimate materials and labor costs for needed projects.
. Ability to construct, install, and repair various carpentry related items throughout the district.
. Ability to exhibit and perform cabinet and casework carpentry skills.
. Knowledge roofing and building envelope systems.
. Have a working knowledge general construction practices and techniques.
. Perform other building maintenance and construction related duties as assigned.
. Willingness and flexibility in adjusting schedule to meet work load demands.
. Ability to assist in solving departmental projects.
. Attend training classes and seminars as directed.
. Ability to work with other maintenance employees toward accomplishing maintenance department
goals.
. Ability to work with other maintenance employees as well as all district employees in a positive
and helpful manner.
. Employee will not be limited to Carpenter work and will perform other duties as assigned by
supervisor.

Hand tools, power tools, electrical meters and test equipment, motor vehicle, dollies and carts,

ENVIRONMENT
Indoor and outdoor work; excessive hot and cold temperatures; excessive humidity and
dampness; exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, smoke, gas, solvents, grease, oil, and
electrical energy.
