Description

Position Title: Electrician

Reports To: Manager CI/TPM/Facilities

Location: Phoenix

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Direct Reports: None

SUMMARY OF POSITION

This position is responsible for performing skilled electrical duties in the repair and service of facilities and equipment. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary, but does not directly or indirectly supervise any other employees. This position reports to the Manager CI/TPM/Facilities in the Continuous Improvement Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below. This list is not all inclusive and may be amended by Northstar, from time to time.

Perform skilled electrical duties in the repair and service of facilities and equipment

Interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings and/or standards for the installation and maintenance of electrical wiring, fixtures and appliances

Ensure work performed is completed in compliance with national and local building codes

Complete routine inspections and make emergency service calls

Perform other duties appropriate to the assignment

Order and estimate materials and costs

Using Excel and Microsoft Word to generate reports and charts

Repair, replace or modify existing services to update or conform with new requirements

Test electrical apparatuses with various meters to detect short, worn out or weak components and defective connections

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will not direct the work of any other employees.

Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing and seeing

Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds

Frequent reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, feeling, twisting, bending and repetitive motion

Occasional sitting, writing and typing

Visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of product and/or parts

Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles

Frequent exposure to moderate to heavy noise

The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education Require: Electrical trade school.

Experience Required: Experience with methods and practices of electrical remodeling, constructing, installing and replacing major utility services. Experience with commercial electrical system 227v, 480v

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

Able to use common and specialized tools, equipment and materials

Able to operate articulating boom lift equipment for the repair of any pole lights

Excellent written and verbal communication

Able to read and write

Establish and maintaining interpersonal relationships

Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Ability to work varied schedules, including: nights and weekends as needed
