Equipment Operator I - Concrete Finisher The CIty of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome an Equipment Operator I - Concrete Finisher to the Public Works Operations Maintenance Team! As an Equipment Operator I - Concrete Finisher, you will perform labor work for the placement of concrete construction, installation, and repair of new or existing sidewalks, curbs and gutters, ramps, and other construction projects.

    Work Location: 402 W Fontanero St, Colorado Springs, CO 80907 Anticipated Schedule: 6:30AM - 5:00PM. Either Monday -Thursday or Tuesday- Friday depending on crew assignment after hire. Job Type: Full-time; non-exempt Hiring Range: $21.78 - $26.14

    As an Equipment Operator I, you will:
    • Assemble and set formwork that holds concrete to required pitch and depth; align forms appropriately
    • Place reinforcement steel materials to ensure concrete reinforcement meets specifications
    • Place concrete and guides; instruct laborers in the casting and spreading of concrete into forms or onto surfaces
    • Operate a variety of heavy/light or specialized equipment; load and prepare equipment, load materials, and calibrate machinery

    We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
    • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of various equipment
    • Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
    • Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices
    • Ability to safely operate various equipment and assigned vehicle
    • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods
    • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
    • One year of professional, full-time experience in concrete labor, general construction, manual labor or another relevant field
    • Possess and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restrictions
    • Possess, or obtain within one year of hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado CDL Class B driver's license which is not subject to restrictions

    Physical Demands: The position requires the ability to pull, reach, bend, climb, kneel, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently, and use fingers, hands, and legs; distinguish colors, and safely operate assigned vehicle and equipment.
