TheMechanic will use specialized skills and experience to diagnose anyproblem equipment or farm machinery might have and generate acost-effective solution. This position will include tasks ranging fromworking on an engines electrical system to welding cracked pipefitting.The Mechanic will maintain equipment in good repair and functioning atits full potential through preventative maintenance and/or any requiredrepairs.\ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\Using a high degree of independent judgement, assumes the responsibilityof a wide range of repairs such as (cultivators, compost spreaders,pressure nozzles, etc.)\Diagnoses defective equipment and/or machinery, troubleshoots andrepairs electrical systems.\Analyzes and interprets the equipment manuals.\Interacts with the parts department to ensure parts are available forrepairs and inventory.\Effectively uses specialized tools to measure wear on internal workingcomponents of engines and transmissions.\Dissembles and assembles equipment.\Maintains a clean and safe work environment and adheres to all DFFsafety policies, procedures and instructions from management.\Collaborates with team members from other departments to ensure repairsare done in a timely manner.\Performs welding or fabrication duties as needed.\Provide assistance as needed to other mechanics troubleshootingrepairs.\Performs other duties as assigned/required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT\The physical demands and work environment described here arerepresentative of those that must be met by an associate to successfullyperform the essential functions of this job. Workers will need to be willing tolearn new mechanical practices to contribute to the success of the farm.Workers must be able to work day shifts or night shifts as needed. Somequalified workers may be requested to be working team leaders. Someproperly licensed workers may be requested to transport workers betweenhousing and worksite locations. Workers will be required to performroutine maintenance and major engine overhauls. Workers will exam andlisten to machines, motors, gasoline and diesel engines, and equipmentfor operational defects. Workers will dismantle defective units, usinghand-tools. Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand-tools andshop tools. Workers will replace components, such as carburetors, fuelpumps, generators, ignition points, and spark plugs. Reassembles,adjusts, and lubricates machines and equipment to ensure efficientoperation. May install and repair wiring and motors to maintainelectrical system. May assemble and erect new farm machinery andequipment. Workers will Test-drive vehicles and or equipment to ensurethat they run smoothly. Workers will keep shop and workspaces clean.All applicants must have at least 6 months experience as an agriculturalequipment mechanic. Workers must be able to diagnose\problems and repair farm machinery engines and machines including butnot limited to tractors, forklifts, harvest equipment, irrigation, ndspraying equipment. Applicants must be able to furnish affirmative jobreferences from recent employers operating comparable operationsestablishing acceptable previous experience. Must be physically able tomeet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Applicantsmust have a valid drivers license or have the ability to get one within30 days of hire. Workers must have a clean driving record. Must be ableto work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time.
