Compactor Repair and Welding
Amwaste of Georgia is looking for an experienced repairman and/or fabricator and welder for our Fairburn, GA Operations. This person will diagnose and repair issues with compactors and containers used by our customers.
JOB SUMMARY_________________________________________________________________
Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots problems, and repairs company and customer owned compactors and containers.
MAJOR DUTIES___________________________________________________________________
Troubleshoots compactor operating problems, diagnoses, and subsequently makes repairs.
Performs preventive maintenance on compactors.
Welds and repairs containers for customer use.
Adjusts, repairs or replaces parts and equipment.
Attends safety meetings and classes.
Maintains tools and equipment.
Maintains a safe and tidy shop.
Welds and fabricates parts as needed.
Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION______________________________________________
Knowledge of different compactor operations and maintenance principles.
Skills in the use of tools and equipment used in the maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in welding
Skill in troubleshooting and identifying problems and in devising related solutions,

Guidelines include Corporate policies and procedures as well as any Federal, DOT, or OSHA mandated directives.
COMPLEXITY__________________________________________________________________________
The work consists of related equipment maintenance duties. The variety of equipment to be maintained contributes to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to participate in the maintenance of company vehicles and equipment.
Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of a variety of company operations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT_________________________________________________
The work is typically performed while intermittently standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
Work is typically performed in a vehicle repair shop. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, and irritating chemicals. Work may be performed outdoors occasionally in cold, hot, or inclement weather. Work requires the use of personal protective devices and equipment such as masks, goggles, and gloves.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS _____________________________________________________________
This position has functional supervisory responsibilities working with Mechanic 1 and Mechanic 2 staff as instructed by the Maintenance Manager.
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS____________________________________________________________
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand to work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems,
Basic knowledge of operation of laptop and electronic devices pursuant to on board vehicle diagnostics and drive ability diagnostics.
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems usually associated with 3 to 5 years of experience or service.
