The Welder / Fabricator is expected to:
Have good skills in dealing with people as he / she will need to work directly with fellow employees and with customers, both in the shop and when working at customers facilities
Have the ability to visualize a desired finished product based on a minimal verbal description and / or minimal sketch
Have the ability to visualize and anticipate likely next steps in the process of completing a project
Accurately read and use measuring tools
Have sufficient math skills to be able to accurately layout and cut components to the required dimensions
Safely and competently operate common metal fabrication machinery, band saw, shear, drill press, iron worker, press brake, forklift, etc.
Be proficient at making quality MIG and TIG welds of steel, stainless steel and aluminum components
Have knowledge, experience and skill in the areas of sheet metal fabrication, basic machining and mechanical assembly
Have a valid drivers license
Have the desire to keep equipment in good repair and work areas clean and neat
Have patience and the skills to work safely
Have the ability to work independently as well as with others
Have a willingness to share ones experience and knowledge so as to help others grow
Have the ability to be a self motivator and keep productive
Have the ability to read / decipher drawings / prints
Understand quality craftsmanship; understanding what the end product should look like for the customer
Ability to work with the fine detail in mind, finished goods need to be meticulous
The Welder / Fabricator applicant is expected to demonstrate his / her welding ability by way of weld-up of a test assembly in our shop using our equipment prior to employment. The welding test assembly should demonstrate ability to meet or exceed the quality of the welding shown on our sample assembly.
