Job Title: Painter (Summer Crew)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly
Job Summary: The job of "Painter" is done for the purpose/s of preparing and painting a variety of surfaces; repairing a variety of surfaces, ensuring availability of supplies required for job assignment, ensuring assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner and directing assigned workers as necessary.
Essential Job Functions:
- Inspects painted surfaces for the purpose of identifying potential repairs and providing an ongoing program of preventative maintenance.
- Paints various surfaces (e.g. buildings, parking lots, game courts, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition.
- Prepares various surfaces (e.g. cleaning, sanding, masking, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that they are ready for painting.
- Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
- Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.
- Removes graffiti for the purpose of minimizing vandalism and maintaining attractive facilities.
- Repairs interior and exterior surfaces (e.g. wallpaper, plaster, dry wall, stucco, ceiling tiles, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining and preserving facilities.
- Requests information from other personnel and/or outside sources (e.g. cost estimates, specification, code requirements, etc.) for the purpose of providing cost information and projected timelines for planning and establishing priorities of assignments.
Other Job Functions:
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Designs signs for the purpose of providing directional and cautionary information as may be required.
Qualifications:
- Experience Required: None.
- Must be at least 16 year s of age.
- Oregon Fingerprinting and Criminal Background Check clearance
- Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
- Skills to operate hand and power tools used in craft, perform basic math to calculate measurements, quantities, etc.
- Knowledge of safety (MSDS) requirements, methods and use of materials, tools and equipment used in craft.
- Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged -periods-, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, climbing/balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/manual dexterity, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/color vision.
- Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
Schedule: 4 hrs a day, 4 days per week, 4-6 weeks
