Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA. If the person selected is not affiliated with the AMEA Union, he or she must become a member in good standing within 31 days of beginning work.
HOURS OF WORK : Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Under general supervision, performs professional engineering or surveying tasks for parks and recreation engineering projects. Responsibilities include planning, designing, constructing, inspecting, and maintaining parks, recreational facilities, and related engineering projects. Prepare contracts, inspect complex construction projects, and advise on major problems of construction. Uses independent judgment and initiative to apply standard engineering or surveying principles, make calculations, and implement minor design changes as needed to ensure a project proceeds according to scope, budget, and schedule. Responds to concerns or complaints from the public regarding park related, drainage, site, or water quality concerns. Perform other related duties as assigned.Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, and four (4) years of professional engineering experience.

Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, and six (6) years of professional engineering experience.
Valid State of Alaska Drivers License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Alaska. within 6 months of hire
Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI). Alaska Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (AK-CESCL) Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.

Military Service Interview Preference
Veterans who wish to be considered for interview preference, as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D, must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs, recognizing the person as a veteran. The attached documentation must show an honorable discharge or general (under honorable conditions) discharge. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
Individuals currently serving as a member in good standing in the National Guard or the organized military reserves who wish to be considered for interview preference, as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D, must attach proof of current service to the application. Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows the full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment. The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individuals command organization, and shows the name, signature, title, and contact information of the signer providing the statement of service. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
