By joining our Utility Project Management Section as a Transportation Engineering Technologist Supervisor in Franklin County, you'll have the opportunity to lead the Utility and Rail Branch's utility coordination staff to help facilitate transportation projects. This involves cooperative work with staff and stakeholders to identify, manage and resolve project conflicts with existing utility facilities.
Summary of responsibilities:
- Provide technical review, consultation, and advisement on utility involvement with transportation projects.
- Provide professional review and advisement on technical utility facilities on transportation projects, working towards utility avoidance efforts and minimalized relocations.
- Support project development and delivery by ensuring utility budgets, contracting, payments, project utility decision-making and documentation are executed efficiently, effectively and professionally.
- Ensure the collection of utility project data and statewide programmatic collection of utility data.
- Recommend changes to utility coordination processes and procedures as needed.
- Monitor statewide utility coordination program and process for compliance with state and Federal policies, laws & regulations.
- Provide necessary utility coordination and management training, technical information and advice.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, computer science, data science, geology, earth science, industrial technology, industrial drafting, design technology or construction technology OR Graduate with an associate's degree in Engineering Technology with completion of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of engineering-related experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: 1. Possess a valid EIT certification issued by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors

- Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree OR an associate degree in an engineering field

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: 1. Must have four years of engineering-related experience with the first education option above;
OR
- Must have seven years of engineering-related experience with the second education option above;
OR
- Must have ten years of engineering-related experience in which case related technical or vocational training will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four years with the third education option above;
OR
- Must have ten years of bridge inspection experience under the supervision of a Qualified InspectionTeam Leader, plus successful completion of a Federal Highway Administration approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course with the fourth education option above.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions
Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites and other types of work zones which require the following of safety procedures.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
