Company Description: We are a fast paced, fast growing company that specializes in the design, repair and manufacture of babbitted bearings and labyrinth seals for rotating equipment used in the Chemical, Refining, and Power Generation industries. Job Summary: We are actively seeking an experienced mechanical designer/draftsperson to join our design team. We currently use AutoCAD and Inventor software . Much of the work entails creating repair scopes before reverse engineering the parts. This requires the proficient use of OD and ID micrometers among other precision tools. We offer a climate-controlled shop with many benefits including 401K matching, vacation, profit sharing, and insurance. Located near Hobby Airport. Mechanical Drafting experience is a must. Duties and Responsibilities: Designer/Draftsperson will be responsible for the following: Disassemble customer parts and create/confirm repair scopes Make detailed inspection reports (proficient use of precision measuring tools required) Reverse Engineer - create assembly models and detail drawings of parts. Adhere to company standards Check other designers work Release jobs to production Perform ECR/ECO's (Engineering Change Requests/Orders) Good communication skills and experience with Microsoft office suite required. Must have experience with AutoCAD and Inventor (or similar modeling software). Must be willing to work overtime to get the job out. 45-55 Hour Scheduled Work Week. Experience managing others is a plus. Experience reverse engineering bearings and seals for rotating machinery a plus. Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
