CLIENT INFORMATION Client is a Hispanic-owned, infrastructure engineering and scientific consulting firm based in Chicago. Established in 2002, the firm offers structural-architectural engineering, industrial hygiene, environmental engineering, and occupational safety consulting services. We are currently seeking a self-motivated individual to work among a team of diverse professionals in our Environmental division as a Mid-Level Environmental Engineer or Scientist. This position is in the Chicago area and local candidates are preferred. In this position you would have the opportunity to work in our Environmental division where we provide a full range of environmental due diligence services for our clients, which includes local and state government agencies, utilities, general contractors, land developers, and lending institutions. Our valuable advantage to our clients combining the strengths of our in-house engineering and design capabilities with our construction and remediation expertise. We work closely with site management personnel, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and regulators to efficiently and effectively implement necessary environmental management measures allowing timely and informed financial decision-making associated with the scope and cost of managing site residuals, impacted media, and environmental consequences due to construction. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below satisfactorily and meet the requirements below. Performing and/or leading one or more of the following: environmental site investigations, engineering analysis, calculations and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, Illinois SRP closures, groundwater monitoring, uncontaminated soil certifications, plans and inspections, UST closures, environmental compliance, and environmental permitting Monitor quality standards and practices Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines Prepare deliverables according to scope, schedule, and budget Assisting in the development of proposals and other business development activities. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: BS degree in Engineering, Geology, or related technical field 5 to 8 years related work experience Professional license or ability to obtain Proficient in leading Phase I/II ESA field investigations including collecting soil and groundwater environmental samples, soil boring logging; monitoring well installation, and aquifer testing. Adaptability to work in both office and field environments. Working background and understanding of Illinois SRP and LUST program Computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Strong technical writing skills Demonstrated verbal communication and technical presentation skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with the ability/desire to lead tasks Attention to detail Willingness to occasionally work more than 8 hours per day when necessary for project success Ability to read, interpret, and apply information on State and Federal technical guidance and regulations 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER (or ability to obtain) ADDITIONAL DETAILS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and meet the requirements.
