Job Title: Electrical Estimator An Electrical Estimator at our client is a professional responsible for calculating the projected costs associated with electrical projects. This role is crucial in the construction and electrical service industries where accurate cost estimation helps prepare bids for contracts, manage budgets, and plan projects efficiently. Job Summary: The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for electrical services in residential projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Estimate Preparation : Review construction plans and specifications to determine the scope of electrical work required for projects. Cost Calculation : Calculate the cost of electrical components, labor, and other factors that will influence the project's total expenses. Bid Submission : Prepare and submit accurate bids and proposals for various electrical projects. This includes detailing the cost breakdowns and project timelines. Vendor Relations : Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to gather pricing information and negotiate costs on electrical components and equipment. Project Analysis : Analyze project performance post-completion to assess the accuracy of cost estimates and improve future estimations. Risk Assessment : Identify potential risks associated with the electrical aspects of construction projects and factor these into cost estimates. Coordination : Collaborate with our Master Electrician, project managers, design engineers, and other construction staff to ensure that estimates are accurate and feasible. Reporting : Maintain records of estimated and actual costs, provide reporting on these and advise management on cost-effective changes and options. Compliance and Standards : Ensure all estimates comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations. Qualifications: Education : A degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred. Experience : Proven experience as an electrical estimator or similar role. Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings. Skills : Strong analytical skills, proficiency with estimating software and spreadsheets, and excellent attention to detail. Knowledge of Lutron lighting control systems would be a plus. Proficient understanding of NEC (National Electrical Code) standards. Certifications : Certification from recognized bodies such as the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) may be advantageous. Work Environment: This position is offered as a hybrid, or in-person role, depending on the candidate. The work typically takes place in an office setting, but site visits are occasionally required to assess project sites and collaborate with onsite teams.
