Our Client, a global leader in iconic restaurant brands, is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their cutting-edge REDLabs team in Plano, TX. This is a hands-on, onsite role where you'll take ownership of designing advanced automation systems from concept through detailed design, helping to shape the future of food service technology. What You'll Do: Lead the mechanical design of complex automated machinery, including robotics, motion systems, steppers, servo motors, and sensors. Develop full system designs independently-from initial concept to detailed execution. Collaborate closely with control and electrical teams to ensure seamless integration. Drive prototype builds, testing, and hands-on problem-solving in a dynamic lab environment. Ensure designs meet industry safety standards and ergonomic requirements. What You Bring: 10+ years of experience in automated machine design, with 5+ years as the lead or primary designer. Proven ability to design sophisticated automation systems on your own. Strong SolidWorks skills (5+ years) and practical experience building and testing prototypes. Experience with automated sorting or pick & place systems is a strong plus. Knowledge of FDA/NSF food safety and ANSI/ISO machinery safety standards is highly desirable. Bonus points for experience in food processing or kitchen equipment design.
