Forklift Operator Job Description The Forklift Operator/General Laborer will be responsible for operating forklifts to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The role also includes general labor tasks such as loading and unloading materials, maintaining the yard, and assisting with inventory management. Responsibilities Operate forklifts to load, unload, and transport stone and brick materials within the yard. Ensure proper stacking and storage of materials to prevent damage and ensure safety. Assist with inventory management, including counting and recording materials. Load materials into customers' cars, trucks, box trucks, and flatbeds. Assist with general yard maintenance, including cleaning and organizing work areas. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently and effectively. Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients and vendors. Essential Skills Proficient in operating forklifts. Experience in material handling and loading. Ability to perform general labor tasks. Capability to use sitdown forklifts. Skills in production and order picking. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to perform routine maintenance checks on forklifts. Experience in accurately placing materials in designated areas. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Chesapeake, Virginia. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
