Tyto Athene is searching for a Senior Telecommunications Architect to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.

The Senior Telecommunications Architect Develops, designs, and manages enterprise telecommunications architectures to support USSOUTHCOMs mission-critical communication infrastructure. This role leads the development of scalable, secure, and resilient voice, video, and data communication solutions that align with mission requirements. The architect collaborates with senior stakeholders, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to ensure the architecture supports evolving operational needs and complies with DoD standards and directives.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes scalable, secure, and high-performance voice, video, and data communication frameworks, integrating VoIP, satellite communications (SATCOM), and traditional telephony systems
  • Design and oversee enterprise-wide telecommunications infrastructure, including VoIP, secure voice, video teleconferencing (VTC), and unified communications systems
  • Leads the deployment, configuration, and optimization of storage platforms, ensuring seamless data availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery capabilities
  • Implements data protection measures, encryption protocols, and access controls to secure storage environments while maintaining compliance with DoD regulations
  • Conducts performance tuning, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to optimize storage efficiency and reliability
  • Executes lifecycle management of enterprise storage systems, aligning operations with cybersecurity, risk mitigation, and continuity of operations (COOP) strategies.
  • Develop and maintain architectural documentation, standards, and roadmaps for voice and data communication systems
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging telecommunications technologies and solutions to improve performance and reduce cost
  • Ensure compliance with DoD security requirements, including STIGs, DISA standards, and IAVM directives
  • Provide expert input for acquisition strategies, technical evaluations, and vendor selection.
  • Mentor junior engineers and serve as a subject matter expert for all telecommunications initiatives

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in telecommunications engineering or architecture roles
  • Extensive knowledge of VoIP systems, SIP protocol, Cisco Unified Communications Manager
  • In-depth understanding of secure voice communications, encryption hardware, KG devices and transport technologies
  • Proven experience in designing and maintaining large-scale DoD communications systems in CONUS and OCONUS environments
  • Strong working knowledge of network architectures, routing/switching, and Quality of Service
  • Familiarity with cloud-based communication tools and integration
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and present to executive-level stakeholders

Desired:

  • Masters degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with DISA-provided UC services and architecture
  • Hands-on experience with VTC infrastructure
  • Experience supporting tactical communications in deployed environments
  • ITIL v4 certification and experience in enterprise service management
  • CISSP or equivalent

Clearance:

  • TS/SCI clearance is required

Certification:

  • DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
  • CompTIA Security+ CE
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional or higher
  • Cisco Certified Design Professional
