The position: We are seeking to fill an Electrician position . Under the supervision of an Electrical Trade Supervisor or Maintenance Manager, performs work of more than ordinary difficulty and responsibility involved in the maintenance and upkeep of the electrical system for the Seattle Housing Authority (SHA).     The ideal candidate has:

    • High school or equivalent education as required by the trade apprenticeship program.
    • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and fully insurable driving record.

    A Washington State Journeyman Electrician EL01 License is required for this position

    • Provides tools required by the union tool list for inside wireman.

    What will you do?

    1. Install, modify, and upgrade new and existing electrical and electronic systems, parts, and other related electrical equipment in commercial and residential properties.
    2. Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical and electronic equipment.
    3. Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
    4. Perform tasks associated with, but not limited to maintaining, troubleshooting, and making repairs to: Lighting systems, Electrical Controls, Phones, Intercom systems, Security Systems, Automatic Doors, Emergency Power Systems including Generators and Transfer Switches, Parking gates.
    5. Purchase and/or order electrical/electronic supplies from vendors and SHA warehouse as needed.
    6. Attend all required training and safety meetings; use, maintain, and replace assigned personal protective equipment; report all injuries and illnesses to supervisor immediately; complete and submit incident/accident reports as required; report hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices to supervisor; and follow all safety and health guidelines, practices, policies, and procedures.
    7. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, work plans, performance measures, and continuous improvement of service delivery to assist in attaining the unit/program/department initiatives and goals, agency core strategies, and mission through a spirit of service, teamwork, and respect. Work well with other employees, follow directions, and work well under pressure.
    8. Create required reports such as maintenance work orders or timesheets.
    9. Inspect and make recommendations on the condition and safety of electrical/electronic equipment and the procurement of parts.
