Environmental Project Manager

Job Description

  • We are seeking an Environmental Project Manager to lead our Hazmat team.
  • This role involves managing approximately 12 active environmental projects across New York State, focusing on hazardous materials including asbestos, lead, and PCBs.
  • The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in environmental project management.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Hazmat team across multiple active projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, conducting regular meetings and providing project updates.
  • Ensure all projects meet deadlines, budget constraints, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate and oversee site visits, inspections, and field assessments.
  • Manage and schedule hazardous material abatement activities, including asbestos, lead, and PCB removal.
  • Supervise two in-house draftsmen and ensure timely and accurate preparation of project drawings.
  • Collaborate with in-house structural engineers to review and obtain stamped approvals on project drawings.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation and reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local environmental regulations and safety standards.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental project management, with a focus on hazardous materials. Alternatively, 10 years as a project monitor or 5 years of inspection experience are acceptable.
  • Strong knowledge of New York State and federal environmental regulations (DOT, DEC, or regulated materials).
  • Proven experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites across New York State.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Certified Asbestos Project Monitor or Designer.
  • Lead-Based Paint Inspector or Risk Assessor Certification.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • PMP Certification is a plus.
Work Environment
  • The work environment is divided between 75% office and 25% field work.
  • The Environmental team consists of 12 employees.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $52.88/hr.
