Senior Electrical Engineer
Job Description

This Senior Electrical Engineer position will fulfill an on-site role at a datacenter campus supporting ongoing construction activities. The role involves serving as a daily on-site presence to review progress and ensure quality design for multiple concurrent datacenter builds. The position will monitor progress for compliance with construction documents from initial stages through commissioning, working closely with engineering procurement controls and construction teams. It provides project management, technical direction, decision-making, and leadership throughout the construction lifecycle up to turnover.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site electrical engineering and project management representative throughout the construction of a multi-year datacenter campus development.
  • Perform regular site walks and inspections to observe progress, review construction versus design intent, and ensure standards and quality are met.
  • Facilitate and maintain a close working relationship with all site personnel, attending construction-based quality assurance meetings and schedule review sessions.
  • Closely monitor project management Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) related risk items with Architectural Engineering (AE) subject matter experts.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, design guides/standards, sequences of operation, and commissioning documents for technical compliance.
  • Support and oversee submittal reviews, Request For Invoice (RFI) responses, and commissioning activities.
  • Possess a high level of understanding of commercial and industrial architecture and engineering, particularly in datacenter construction techniques and terminology.
  • Exhibit leadership competencies and collaborate cross-functionally to maximize business results and customer experiences.
  • Communicate effectively at varying levels of business, including business executives, with excellent interpersonal skills.
Essential Skills
  • 8 years of electrical engineering experience, OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field AND 5 years of electrical engineering experience, OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field AND 3 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience specific to datacenter electrical engineering.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings, project specifications, and equipment submittals against construction activities.
  • Experience with the design and operation of electrical systems, power distribution systems, backup power systems, electrical power monitoring systems, control diagrams, sequence of operation for electrical controls systems, network architecture, and communication protocols.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Engineering degree required.
  • 10+ years of experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership competencies with a willingness to collaborate cross-functionally.
Work Environment

The position involves working on-site at a datacenter campus, where construction activities are ongoing. The environment is fast-paced, requiring collaboration with technical and non-technical groups. A person of integrity, methodical and detailed-oriented with an excellent work ethic is essential.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $87.00/hr.
