Position: Facility Maintenance Technician - 2

Reports to: Director of Operations

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Type: Non-Exempt

Summary: Facility Maintenance Technician - 2 is responsible for supporting the team with ongoing preventative maintenance and repair work of facility mechanicals, electrical and other systems to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of all Stein facilities, providing a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our customers and associates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Diagnose and perform routine maintenance activities, including but not limited to: electrical, IT cable and device installation, carpentry, welding, masonry, plumbing, HVAC, roof maintenance, small engine equipment and all other facility related activities.
  • Prioritize and ensure the most cost effective and timely completion of work order requests of the facilities, including regular status updates.
  • Evaluate jobs to be completed, if work exceeds skill level, recommend to the Director of Operations alternative solutions, including but not limited to professional contracted services.
  • Proactively communicate verbally and/or written any maintenance issues or potential hazards to the Director of Operations promptly.
  • Assist peers and maintenance personnel, by providing training, guidance and mentorship with a goal of continued development.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with contractors onsite, to secure compliance with the organizations policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all maintenance tools and equipment are properly stored and in good working condition.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of maintenance supplies, ordering/purchasing as needed with approval from the Director of Operations.
  • Exceed high standards of cleanliness and organization of assigned maintenance areas.
  • Follow and comply with all safety protocols, work rules, trainings and regulations, to include providing guidance and enforcement of safety procedures and practices.
  • Proficient knowledge to understand and appropriately use OSHA lock out/tag out requirements and other applicable requirements.
  • Perform inspections of safety emergency equipment, such as, but not limited to, fire suppression equipment, to ensure proper operability.
  • Survey facilities/equipment and perform routine inspections as required.
  • Contribute and support with new store set-up and store refreshes of all Stein locations when needed.
  • Complete other special projects as assigned.

Employment Requirements:

  • Associate degree, related technical certifications or apprenticeship or high school diploma/equivalent with minimum of three years related experience.
  • Proficient experience and knowledge working with plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general maintenance, including the knowledge and use of required tools and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Able to diagnose maintenance situations, strong problem-solving and organization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently with flexibility, adapting to changing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, safety minded, resourceful, with the ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Must possess the ability to interact professionally with many levels in and out of the organization in order to become a trusted resource within the organization.
  • Valid and MVR acceptable driver’s license with the ability to drive to all Stein locations for assigned projects with a flexible schedule to meet the demands. Some limited overnight travel may be necessary.
  • Ability to respond to emergency events - floods, power outage, weather-related or other non-planned situations, if needed.
  • Must be forklift and scissor lift certified within 3 months of employment, with the ability to assist in company required trainings.
