Plumber

Friendship is looking for a Full-Time Plumber to join our Friendship team, located in Roanoke, VA. The Plumber is responsible for routine maintenance as well as troubleshooting and various repair of facility equipment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Prepares reports and maintains records of preventive maintenance and repairs on major equipment to eliminate untimely breakdowns to equipment.
• Prepares reports and maintains records of time and materials used to complete work assignments.
• Services major equipment, consistently paying close attention to pertinent details and thereby minimizing the amount of work to be redone and also reducing the amount of equipment repair work.
• Demonstrates good knowledge of latest equipment and replacement parts. Always follow Friendship Retirement Community’s guidelines when purchasing needed materials and supplies.
• Repairs equipment within a reasonable time frame to ensure safety and comfort of occupants.
• Immediately report all breakdowns of major equipment to the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager.
• Develops and maintains a current knowledge of building systems. Typical areas include but not limited to the following: Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Sheet Metal, Roofs, Doors & Locks, Blueprints, Generators, Elevators, Pumps, and Fire Alarms.
• Identifies problems in the systems to ensure early detection and possible avoidance of breakdowns.
• Works harmoniously with building occupants to ensure their safety and comfort.
• Uses all the safety equipment/clothing/shoes/ required in the performance of work assignments. Consistently observes and practices safety standards in accordance with OSHA.
• Is available for 24 hour emergency calls/inclement weather. Is required to be on 24 hour call one week at a time on a rotating schedule.
• Monitors inventory of supplies on hand to avoid a slowdown in productivity.
• Performs other building related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment, valid Virginia Driver’s license. Must be maintained in an active status without suspension or revocation throughout employment.
