Job Summary:

The Milling Machine Operator operates equipment used for milling and removing existing asphalt to prepare the surface for new asphalt.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Safely and skillfully operates a milling machine following all standard equipment procedures.

Responsible for proper usage of grade control devices.

Maintains equipment in proper operating condition by performing simple preventive maintenance and repair tasks such as adjusting, fluid checks, replacing minor parts and lubricating equipment.

Responsible for daily checks of the milling drum, conveyors, and water supply systems.

Responsible for daily inspection and replacement of milling teeth on the milling drum to assure proper cutting patterns on pavement surfaces.

Must maintain an acute sense of awareness to the surrounding footprint of the machine (watch for obstructions while operating the equipment, such as ground utilities, curb, and gutters).

Maintain constant visual contact with co-workers on the ground and trucks in front of the machine.

Must perform general laborer duties as assigned.
