You'll work directly with our technology and product teams, helping shape the future of solar tracking through hands-on application and technical leadership.
Nextracker is seeking a highly skilled Senior Equipment Operator to join our team in Fremont, CA. This role is pivotal to the safe and effective deployment of specialized solar tracking equipment in support of R&D and field validation activities. We're looking for an experienced operator who can lead by example, train others, and take ownership of equipment operations with a strong safety-first mindset.
Operate and maintain a variety of heavy and specialized equipment, including: Pile Driver, Truss Driver Machine, Excavator, Telehandler, Scissor Lift, Skid Steer, Aerial Boom Lift, Fork Lift, Trucks
Adapt daily to different tracker types and operational needs, switching between equipment as necessary
Perform daily equipment inspections, routine maintenance, and ensure machines meet safety standards
Conduct hands-on training for team members, especially on new or specialized equipment
Supervise field operations, ensuring safe and efficient workflows
Assist in the deployment and field testing of new solar tracker products and technologies
Execute boots-on-the-ground labor when needed, supporting crews beyond equipment operation
Maintain compliance with all internal safety protocols and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
Travel off-site on occasion for equipment-related training or field support
Requirements:
3-5 years of hands-on heavy equipment operating experience (solar or construction environments preferred)
Demonstrated ability to safely operate and maintain a broad range of equipment
Equipment operation licenses/certifications strongly preferred (e.g., forklift, aerial lift)
Prior leadership or team lead experience, especially with training responsibilities
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and accountability in fieldwork
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Experience supporting solar tracker installations or product applications is a plus
