WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: The work varies from day to day and could include: assist with installation of fire, security, CCTV, building controls, communication systems and cabling; assist with fire alarm system periodic testing and documentation; work in both new construction and existing buildings. You will be training under the supervision of a professional journeyman. Communicating with others, listening, working with a team according to a plan are key skills for this apprentice role at our company. PAY AND BENEFITS: $21 or more per hour to start depending on experience, with 5 scheduled increases over the 3-year program. EDUCATION: High school education minimum, must have at least a C grade in algebra (as required to enter the electrical apprenticeship.) College studies are helpful but not a requirement. SKILLS: Basic manual dexterity, reasonably good familiarity with hand tools, strong desire to learn and take notes, ability to work with a team and achieve objectives with a group or on your own, trustworthiness and a solid work ethic, prefer good written & verbal communication skills, active problem solving through creativity and risk-taking, ability to listen and follow specific instructions precisely when necessary, multitasking, consistent follow-through on delegated tasks and a commitment to always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Basic understanding of laptop computers and Microsoft Office -- at least with MS Excel and MS Word. EXPERIENCE: Some previous work experience required, with good employment references.
